Operation See Kyle Snyder: FAIL
Well, the Red Sox Chick and I trekked out to Scenic Lowell yesterday in hopes of seeing Kyle Snyder's rehab appearance for the Spinners. Unfortunately, about a half hour before gates opened the Spinners got word that due to travel delays Kyle wouldn't be there. No announcement was made, so we held out hope even after seeing Stolmy Pimental listed as the starter that Kyle would make a relief appearance, but no such luck. Ah well.

It was a good trip, though. We have two games in Lowell later this month and it was nice to get the lay of the land. Gorgeous little park, friendly staff, good concessions and it was easy to move around even during the game. I'd wanted to see Stolmy, too!

Cutest photo I've taken in a long time...

The "Spinners Kids" got to go onto the field before the game--that's 2B Zach Gentile with "his" kid.

Stolmy, heaven help me, reminds me in physique of another #45...

More later!

Cute indeed! (photo, kid, AND player...)

If he learns to pitch like him, Sox are golden!

I'm going to a Spinners game in a few weeks--anything of priority about the stadium to pass on, any quirks like McCoy's autograph fishing?

And the 45--yeah, more than a little frighteningly familiar.

Not sure there's anything I'd call a quirk, though the clips with "Dog Man" on the scoreboard are a riot. Lots of mascots! No shade, essentially. When gates opened (an hour and a half pre-game) the team was in right field warming up and stretching while the visitors took BP--I vaguely remember that some of them signed on the way back to the dugout but can't swear to it.

I'll be there 7/22 and 7/24, so if it's one of those games let me know!

Thanks! I've only been to one minor league game, and it was a PawSox game (May 26--I think you were there?) and I got there only after Zink loaded the bases in the first. So I plan to get there earlier for this one!

I think it might be, in fact... maybe 7/23. I'm not sure. But it's some time around then.

Ohhhhhhhhhhh... then I have to add "Be ready to enjoy the minor leagues." ^_^ The cheesiness factor that is so blissfully absent from Fenway is in full force (and appropriate for the setting, of course). The Chicken Dance, egg tosses, go-cart races, and more PA incitements to the crowd than you can believe. I was dying because they kept playing the same "Ev-ry-bod-y-clap-your-hands!" riff that was driving me nuts in Cincinnati. I don't think I linked the full Lowell page here yet but you might get an idea from the shots of things that aren't players!

Oh goody. I'm a huge fan of a bunch of minor league teams, not just the Sox organization (what can I say? Sam Fuld can make me do anything xD) so I'm excited to go to more minor league games. And thanks--fantastic pictures as always! (Yay Middlebrooks! I love this one of his swing.)
